QinetiQ NA Maritime Division (Spring 2020)
My first co-op was at QinetiQ, a security and defense contracting company. I worked as a mechanical engineer with their maritime projects. On these projects, I gained my first experience with designing test fixtures and updating Solidworks files.
Work Experience
Rogers Foam (Current)
I am currently working as a mechanical engineer in their Engineering and Design Department. This job is focused on engineering machines and molds to produce specific shapes out of foam to serve client needs. It has provided a great balance of design and hands-on work. Most projects are solo, and as such I am able to design parts in CAD, writing CNC programming, and machine the parts as well as any post processing required.
NxStage Medical (Spring 2022)
My final co-op was with the disposables team for Nxstage. Having helped with one at MW, I led my own DOE style investigation into the variability of their peristaltic pump performance. This involved designing a test plan, executing that plan, and analyzing the collected data in Minitab and Matlab. I also was exposed to modeling parts for plastic injection molding and when human factors are a priority.
MW Life Sciences (Spring 2021)
My second co-op was MW Life Sciences, formerly known as Bridgemedica. Here I expanded my work of designing test fixtures, but this time I was tasked with implementing these fixtures. I learned how to use an MTS machine for tensile testing and a USON for leak testing for design verification and quality assurance. I also was able to take part in a DOE style investigation into product packaging.
